Taxonomic / nomenclatural notes: • Lecane hastata (Murray) after Godeanu (1961) [Ref.11469], Segers (1995, partim: fig.213) [Ref.15457]
• Previously regarded as a synonym of Lecane hastata (Murray) (Segers, 1995) [Ref.15457], but is distinct by consistently shorter toes compared to the claws, and a more distinctly set off foot plate. Moreover, L. plesia inhabits saline habitats, while L. hastata occurs in freshwater. • Only a "cotype" has been designated in the original publication. Additional specimens were found in the AMNH and ANSP collections, which in the absence of a holotype designation are regarded as syntypes. |
