Taxonomic / nomenclatural notes: • not Trichocerca mucosa (Stokes) after Hauer (1956) [Ref.17268], Shiel & Koste (1992) [Ref.12046], Trichocerca bicristata var. mucosa after Koste (1978) [Ref.17338] [=Trichocerca bicristata (Gosse)].
• For a discussion of the confused taxonomy of T. mucosa (Stokes) - bicristata (Gosse) see Segers (1997) [Ref.17539]. • Considering the absence of any types, and in order to settle the confusion regarding the true identity of this species, Segers (1997) [Ref.17539] suggested to stabilize the name T. mucosa by the designation of a neotype, which is now deposited in the Philadelphia collection (ANSP 1043). |
